Dreamwidth?

So I've been playing around with the idea of buying a seed account at Dreamwidth when they go up for sale on April 30, since apparently this is the only time ever they will be selling permanent accounts, but the fact that only a few people on my f-list seem to even know about the project makes me question whether it's worth shelling out that much money. So: a poll.

[Poll #1375329]

For those of you who checked the last radio button, here are some good resources to read about the project:
Links to a bunch of posts explaining why this project was undertaken--see especially this one , in which [livejournal.com profile] synechdochic explains why she undertook this project; Dreamwidth's wiki page; a post explaining how Dreamwidth is different than other fan-run journaling sites ; a post by [livejournal.com profile] cathexys about why dreamwidth is right for her ; and a post by [livejournal.com profile] zvi_likes_tv about getting started on Dreamwidth , for those lucky enough to have closed beta accounts.

The difference with Dreamwidth is they're willing to change and upgrade to make it a better place for fandom. It's not going to be stuck with one thing but able to change with the times. It's not just another journaling service, it's one that is looking to be the best and FOR its users. I don't see a reason to stick around with LJ just because the best new thing hasn't been discovered yet. We have to make the best of what we have because who knows when that new thing, if there ever is, will happen.
