Hawaii Five-O
Well, it was better than last week's episode, anyway?
1. While I'm happy that Masi Oka is getting a lot of screentime, that first bit with the fingerprints was just GROSS. Ugh. I know people complained about them turning him into comic relief last week, but I prefer him in Inspector Gadget mode to him wearing other people's skin. *Shudder times infinity*
2. I can't decide if I like that Lori is getting to do a lot of investigating on her own or not. On the one hand, yeah for independence and her contributing a lot of good intel to the case; on the other hand, she's not being very integrated into the team.
3. I didn't hate Joe in this episode, which was something. I thought it was cute that he could eat weaponized shrimp without flinching, and I think strangely I have more tolerance of him now that Steve is starting to be suspicious of him.
4. Kamekona always makes me smile, though I would never buy his shrimp. (Because I'm a vegetarian, of course).
5. Finally getting a Danny-Grace conversation (even if over the phone) also made me smile, especially him telling her he'd kiss her all over her monkey face.
6. CATHERINE! CATHERINE CATHERINE CATHERINE! I have to say her presence really MADE this episode for me. I thought now that the actress has her own show (which sadly I hate), Catherine would just completely vanish from the show, so I was really happy that they thought her character important enough to actually give her a sendoff. And that final scene with Steve and the awkward hug actually made me choke up. I really hope they can bring her back for an occasional episode sometime. And even if they don't, I hope someone writes Steve and Catherine in Mumbai fic.
7. I really, really loved the Chin and Kono stuff. Like most of fandom, I'm mad that we're not seeing the rest of the team interact with Kono, but I do love the emotional depth we're getting for the Chin-Kono relationship. I love how smoothly Chin covered for Kono using his password, and that speech he gave her at the end also made me tear up. And it's clearly breaking Kono's heart that she can't tell him--I get the sense she's really protecting him AND the whole team by avoiding them, and I just wish they'd make it textual that the rest of H50 are trying to keep ties with her and she's rebuffing them. What the hell did that IA guy threaten--putting them all in jail? One thing I haven't seen anyone talk about is that when they recovered the tape that cleared Steve, the governor is recorded on there saying she replaced the money to cover 50's back, which really implicates the whole team, not just Kono. Maybe that's what IA guy is holding over Kono's head?
8. Is it just me, or were Peter Fonda and Patty Duke criminally wasted in this ep?

6. The Steve and Catherine hug was the best thing ever. Totally made my day.
7. CHIN AND KONO. Mostly this show is making me want Chin/Kono fic. Or Chin&Kono fic.
All that Danny and Steve talking was also adorable. ♥ Steve is Danny's therapist! Steve thinks he should ask the museum woman out for coffee! So cute.

I love Catherine SO MUCH.
And yeah, where is the angsty Chin/Kono, dammit? The universe is not providing for my needs.
Steve does make a cute therapist, though honestly I'd like a smidge more resolution to the Danny/Rachel thing before they start setting him up with other people.

*snicker* There should be that kind of angsty fic.
I didn't get the sense that the doctor was going to last - just that it was a way of pushing Danny out of his focus on his divorce.
