Come to the SV social

"I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party. The party with the...with the pants. The party with pants."
"Brick, are you saying there's a party in your pants and I'm invited?" (Anchorman)

No, actually the party is in the comments of this entry! Come and join the fun and meet new people in SV fandom. I would especially like to encourage you quiet folks lurking in the back--even those of you without livejournals of your own--to drop by and introduce yourselves. We're all a pretty friendly bunch here, and we like to make new friends. Fandom is more fun when you get involved and meet people, so why don't you stop by and say hi?

Here's a little mini-questionnaire, almost completely stolen from [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's glee week social, in case you need a conversation starter, but feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you are interested in answering:

1. Tell us something about yourself:
2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):
3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) :
4. What got you interested in Smallville?
5. What are your favorite SV episodes?
6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often?
7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.)

Happy delurking day! Come join the party!

I saw the pilot long after I'd been indoctrinated with slash, so I don't know if I would have seen all the gay. But I definitely appreciated it!

And you know, I've read an awesomely dirtywrong Jonathan/Lex snippet somewhere. I'll have to look for it now :P

Oh, "A Life More Ordinary" is one of my favorite, favorite, favorite comfort fics. Whenever I'm blue that always cheers me up.

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
I knew you'd work KFC in there somehow. hee!

Maybe if I'd seen the previews, I would have gotten into it a lot earlier on my own, but I never ran across one. I guess I never watched anything on that channel. But, then, I haven't really watched much television at all since the year 2000. heh

Unlike my old roommate who used to tell random people that I wrote gay porn before introducing me.

::snort!!:: I don't know if it's like this everywhere, but here in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, it's a really great thing to have in your arsenal for those nights when you have no interest in the guy trying to pick you up at the pub.

Undesirable Male: "What are you into?"

bpp: "I like to write."

UM: ::said oh-so-sincerely:: "Oh, that's cool! What do you write?"

bpp: "Gay male erotica."

UM: "..." ::backs away slowly::

bpp: ::happily sips more beer::

Somewhere much more boring!

Icon is from my favoritest comic, Finder. She does such awesome stuff with art and thought in it.

I loved Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane, too! It was definitely the first thing I ever noticed MR in.

You know, I used to have the kind of encyclopedic knowledge of the X-files you do, but it has all vanished over time. (Also I stopped watching when DD left the show).

And I'll go friend you back!

A Gilbert icon, you say? Why, I think I can oblige!

Actually, I've found it very hard to get a good Gilbert icon. This ones the best so far.

It was the single coolest fannish moment of my life! I just can't get over how perfect it was! Granted, sex would have been nice, but he was kind of hairy and that really isn't my thing;)

::laughs and laughs some more:: *g*

So, hey baby, how you doin'?

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Good dialogue can be better than sex, and a good sex scene can sell a story, but if I can get them together then I am a very happy camper.
Ha! So true!

I have approximately 150 works in progress on my hard drive in sixteen different fandoms. My muse is very, very fickle
But thankfully for us, you still manage to complete some pieces! Especially MR/TW!

[identity profile] l-vera01.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh God. Kill me now...that is *so* NOT what I meant when I posted that! I totally expected you to be catching up with stuff and since I'm on the last bit of the last chapter of Destiny's journey, I was going to finish it this weekend and then check back with you to see how things were!! I'll email about that later!

I adore the Gregorian chants. *sigh* I need a holiday, preferably in the direction that sends me back to paris in summer! The accoustics were just beautiful in there. That and the cathedral in Rome where I heard a choir practising *rolls eyes* Of course, I can't remember the name ...

Yay, more time to get it together!

So... do you feel you are together? I really don't know what you do and stuff. Which you don't have to say if you don't want to.

[identity profile] mkitty3.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. It's so true! I remember flipping through channels and just being mesmerized by this beautiful being on my screen!

GILBERT, YAY!!!

*dances* I want to run out and buy the series *right now*!

[identity profile] bipolypesca.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
The embarrassment comes from, I believe, being the only person with so ridiculously much to say... she has to split it into two posts. LOL! I mean, I don't even have the decency to edit it down so it fits. ::has giggle fit::

I haven't watched many TV shows since I started watching SV... the only one I can think of off the top of my head is The 4400, which I have only seen the first disc of the first season of, and that first episode was pretty darn good visually (the scene where they arrive had every hair on my body standing on edge for nearly five minutes). But I can definitely see what you mean... I'm glad I'm not a regular TV watcher, 'cause I think I'd be very disappointed with what's available these days. heh

I'd be happy to tell you what I do in email, but for various reasons I like to keep my RL and fannish identities separate.

I'm kind of together. I'm doing the work I want to do, but I'm not being as career-focused as I should be at this stage in my career, and I've made a lot of decisions that are sort of self-sabotaging.

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
*blinks*

You know what I hear is a great place to break the ice? Panera Bread. I've heard rumours of bagels and donuts and mocha lattes.

[identity profile] mkitty3.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I don't remember ever having a hotmail account. Or maybe I did years ago...hmmm... My email addy now is mkitty003@aol.com. And thank you! I don't get a lot of feedback for that one.

[identity profile] mkitty3.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't initially realize MR was as beautiful as he is! It took about two episodes and then I knew where the real action was at;)

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
I could really do with a *skosh* more, you know, *logic*.
Ah, logic! That ever-elusive element in the SV plots... when introducing friends to SV, I frequently have to pause the show while they rant and remind them 'do not apply logic to this show!' to which they frequently retort, 'I know... I know... you told me upfront, BUT arrghh!!!' Then I usually put on my zen face and pray a Clexy scene is coming up to keep them hooked.

At meta *rereader*? Wow! I OD'd on meta when I entered the fandom (late)--there was some brilliant stuff written early on.

[identity profile] cinderella81.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks .... I made that icon myself ... although, I don't have it anymore and am in the market for a new one.

I LOVE YOUR ICON!!!!!!!!!!! Gorgeous!

Hi! *waves*

I have a serious love for "hey Lex, let's pretend to be married" fics, too. They are so damn hot.

Visual symbolism! YES! THANK YOU! LOL So, so true.

::waves back:: I love working there (most of the time). People are so nice, and I get to read books before anyone's ever heard of them. ^_^ Very kewl. We're a small publisher who deals with mainly regional titles, military history (and other history), outdoor sports, and hobbies. How 'bout you? :)
