Muppets

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Image taken from [livejournal.com profile] lunaris1013 here .

In non-political news, I was surfing around friendsfriends, and I saw someone with a Kermit/Miss Piggy icon. And for some reason that really started me pondering this pairing. I actually was thinking about them the whole time I was in line to vote. Are they really right for each other? I love both Kermit and Miss Piggy separately, but in some ways I think they're better apart than together. Maybe it's just that they embody a relationship dynamic I don't like too much: highly-strung diva with the long-suffering partner. I think they could both do better, though. Mayber Kermit with Scooter and Piggy with Fozzie Bear. Or do opposites always attract in the world of muppets?

What do you think? Is Kermit/Miss Piggy your muppet OTP, or do you have another?

Edited to add some pictures of muppets mentioned in the comments, behind the cut

Why yes, I am avoiding work this afternoon, why do you ask?

Amen: it's Gonzo/Camilla all the way.

I'm also inclined to root for Kermit/Fozzie; didn't you see The Great Muppet Caper, where Fozzie was so heartbroken at the idea of Kermit going on a date without him? And not to be a speciesist or anything, but Piggy might have a future with Link Hogthrob (captain of the Swinetrek, natch), since they're similarly porcine and vain.

Though now I'm thinking of other potential muppet pairings. If we can include Sesame Street, there's Ernie/Bert (canonically) and Big Bird/Snuffy, of course, but I'm also contemplating more obscure characters: the Count/Forgetful Jones would work for me (they'd balance each other out nicely). And Herry/Telly. And Grover/Oscar. And I cannot believe that I'm having this conversation.

Yay! I have inspired muppet slash! My work is done.

I'm not sure I actually saw the Great Muppet Caper, actually. I may have to rent it. But Kermit/Fozzie sounds like a good pairing to me. And of course Bert/Ernie are definitely canon, but I didn't even think of Big Bird/Snuffy--that's perfect!

I'm going to have to go look up some of the Sesame Street ones, though--I don't think I can identify who Herry and Telly are.

Great Muppet Caper is definitely worth watching. Fozzie and Kermit play identical twins. (Which, now that I think of it, could cause some problems wiht the slash pairing, but then again, most of the time we just see them as friends, so what the hell.) And Diana Rigg (from The Avengers) is one of the stars. And John Cleese has an awesome, awesome cameo.

Diana Rigg AND John Cleese? How did I miss this when it came out?

Oh, ok, I did know who Herry and Telly were, I just didn't know their names.

I'd be tempted to say Dr. Bunsen Honeydew/Beaker, but I'm afraid the good doctor is just too oblivious to poor Beaker's needs...
