Come to the SV social

"I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party. The party with the...with the pants. The party with pants."
"Brick, are you saying there's a party in your pants and I'm invited?" (Anchorman)

No, actually the party is in the comments of this entry! Come and join the fun and meet new people in SV fandom. I would especially like to encourage you quiet folks lurking in the back--even those of you without livejournals of your own--to drop by and introduce yourselves. We're all a pretty friendly bunch here, and we like to make new friends. Fandom is more fun when you get involved and meet people, so why don't you stop by and say hi?

Here's a little mini-questionnaire, almost completely stolen from [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's glee week social, in case you need a conversation starter, but feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you are interested in answering:

1. Tell us something about yourself:
2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):
3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) :
4. What got you interested in Smallville?
5. What are your favorite SV episodes?
6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often?
7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.)

Happy delurking day! Come join the party!

Hi there! I know you, I've seen your vids, and you rock. :D You used to have me on your flist, but I kind of died out of fandom, which I think is why I'm gone now. But I'm back, and will actually be active now, if you're looking to friend anyone.

Also, feeding the ducks is awesome.

lol, thanks:) I'm beyond grateful thats my reason for watching:D

Hee! So good to meet you and your raspberry-loving ways...

MR is a genius, pure and simple.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Merry. That brief, shining moment she was writing in SV was a glorious thing, definitely.

I think I'm going to make a list of the top stories people are listing, because it's very interesting to see. Lanning's Identical series seems tied with Jenn's stories as a gateway into the fandom.

150 WIPs! Can you even keep them straight?

[identity profile] tragicllyhip.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
*holds out arm* LOL. My only regret is I hadn't seen the show yet, so I couldn't appreciate it in full fan girl mode..but then again, maybe thats a good thing:)

Hi: I just friended you, hope that's alright.
1.I think Tom Welling is so beautiful. Brad Pitt is responsible for my love of vampire fiction and the stories that resulted from said love.
2. The Pretender, Farscape, Smallville, Charmed, Alias, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy,Harry Potter, Lois and Clark, La Femme Nikita, Forever Knight, Buffy and Angel- you name it. My favorite ships to write and read are Harry/Draco, Sirius/Remus, Ron/Hermionie, Ginny/Dean, Wincest, Clex,Aeryn/John, Mulder/Scully, Phoebe/Cole, Sydney/Vaughn, Nick/Nathalie, Nick/Janette, Nick/Lacroix, Jarod/Ms Parker,Buffy/Angel, Buffy/Angelus. I love Tom Welling, Boris Kodjoe, Raoul Bova, Brad Pitt(since I was 11), Michael Rosenbaum,Wentworth Miller, Henry Simmons, Angelina Jolie, Meryll streep, Russell Crowe, Ralph Fiennes and Gwyneth P. There are more, but I'll see anything with these people. I like kindness, open mindedness, drama(movie genre), Horror novels, especailly vampire novels and erotic horror novels, anything by Jane Green or Sophie Kinsella. I love music. I like different types, but Mariah Carey, Eva Cassidy, The Beatles,Metallica, Led Zepplin, System of a down, Disturbed, Sade, and Sarah Maclachlan are my favorites.
3. Cruelty, and rudeness. I will read any ship if it is written well, I read well written mpregs, but not all. I even read squick fic, but only if they are well written. I tend to read lots of different types of fics, so if I don't like something, I just don't read it again. I'm not into flaming other people because they made an effort to write something and it isn't fair to dump on them just because it was not what I expected.I don't read Scully/Doggett fic unless it leads to Mulder/Scully.
4. I watched Smallvile from the day it premiered because I am a big Superman fan and I saw that MR was in it and I've loved him since Zoe, Dincan, Jack and Jane.
5. Hard to pick. I like Craving because it's the ep that made me realize how gorgeous TW really is, I like Shattered and Asylum, Love all the red kyprtonite eps, The Kal eps, but my faves are the Lex- centric eps because I don't htink there are enough.
6.I read Photographic Evidence a lot, Lenore's fics, A Handful of Dust and Calm in the House by Jenn, Every Once in a While and The Plan by Herohunter, Card one the fool by Mistressace,The scent of a man series and Wolf breed series by hergerbabe, Heart of Darkness by Garry Owen(dogpoet),The Storm warning Series by C. Roxane- lots more, but those are the ones that spring to mind.
7. I'm 5'10.5" tall,The x files is my favorite show of all time- I can name any episode by watching the first 3 minutes. My fave snack is Terra parmesan and garlic chips.I want to publish my vampire novel soon, I'm not a fan of yellow pants, My favorite color is green, I live with my best friend, I love Sweet potato pie, but Chocolate cake most of all. Dangerous Liasons is my favorite movie and Interview with a Vampire and Jemima J are two of my favorite books. I like to read Chicken Soup for the soul books when I am having a bad day. I have kept a journal since I was nine and still have the journals from aged 13 - present(my dad lost the one for 9-12). I'm eating healthy now and working out a lot because I have to lose 63ibs to get to my goal weight. I love my family and my dream job would be to work as a movie/tv critic for a magazine. I sing really well and spent quite a lot of my youth in choirs and singing competions. I think that's enough about me. This was fun!

I think I would have been leery if I'd already been watching SV, too. It did seem like such an obvious casting stunt, but I'm so happy it worked and pulled me in. I still love James, but if he doesn't come back in season 6, I will be just fine with that. Plenty of pretty boys around already!:)

Ohh, and guess what? Lex likes purple too. Lex is always wearing my favorite colors, smart boy that he is.

The one the only the original Vegas CSI:) I watch it twice a day on Spike and go "ewwww!!" about every 5 minutes, lol

*waves* I haven't replied to your email during my catch-up-on-work frenzy, which is (thankfully) now over. So send away! I should have at least *some* time to myself this weekend! *g*

And random fact--I once heard Gregorian chants sung in Notre Dame on a chilly January night and it was one of the most magical things ever. The ecstatic joy on the faces of the singers was particularly special--the accoustics there are incredible.

Oooh, a holiday just for you! Fun!

I used to sit and play with my rings in classes, too. They were an endless source of amusement.

John Sheppard is such a ditz! He looks so confused! *pets him*

It was just an odd thing to happen. I kinda fell into it and then thought, wow, this is fun AND I'm really good at it. I had visions of being a writer someday, but, yeah, good luck there. So gay porn keeps me happy in the mental creativity. Decorating keeps me happy in the physical creativity. Life's all about balance! :D

What do you do for a living, by the way?

I have been brought over to stripey socks by certain people I know, and I like them, but I can't look at the bottoms of my feet in them. It freaks me out, for some reason.

Yay barefoot! Now if only I got to go barefoot more often, but here it is difficult.

I second that. You really do use that word more than anyone else on the planet.

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
It was the cinematography that drew me in. It was the crew that snatched me into Smallville
Yes, I can totally understand that. For me, SV was a struggle for a while, as I'm usually a very textually-oriented person, but the visual quality of SV is highly addictive, and once it clicked in my mind that the visual symbolism is highly significant and layered, I fell in love.

Another publishing industry person?! *waves*

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
That's probably true. I once made a complete ass out of myself when I met someone who went to grad school with David Duchovny, so god knows what I would do if I ever met an actual celebrity who I liked!

[identity profile] candidlily.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
It seems you have a great sense of humor, and that plus being Smallville fan makes you awesome. Especially if you're a Lex fan. :D So I'm friending you! Yay for delurking!

Ahem. Yes, Tommy is very clean cut and sweet. He'd like you to think, anyway.
