Come to the SV social

"I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party. The party with the...with the pants. The party with pants."
"Brick, are you saying there's a party in your pants and I'm invited?" (Anchorman)

No, actually the party is in the comments of this entry! Come and join the fun and meet new people in SV fandom. I would especially like to encourage you quiet folks lurking in the back--even those of you without livejournals of your own--to drop by and introduce yourselves. We're all a pretty friendly bunch here, and we like to make new friends. Fandom is more fun when you get involved and meet people, so why don't you stop by and say hi?

Here's a little mini-questionnaire, almost completely stolen from [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's glee week social, in case you need a conversation starter, but feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you are interested in answering:

1. Tell us something about yourself:
2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):
3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) :
4. What got you interested in Smallville?
5. What are your favorite SV episodes?
6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often?
7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.)

Happy delurking day! Come join the party!

By the way I'm taking the chocolate fountain and setting it up in my bathroom. Long hot bath and chocolate, hmmmmmmmmmm:)

1. Tell us something about yourself: I am a stay at home mom in her forties with 2 adorable children, 9 and 5. My husband and I have been married 15 years, but have been together since 1983. I'm computer stupid for the most part (so this post won't be pretty with bold and italics), but I know how to read and love LJ for all the interesting posts from my friends and fanfictions from the incredible writers.

2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff): I'm an obsessive Smallville/Tom Welling/Clark Kent/Clex lady. I love them all! I also love to write, but rarely can find the time when my brain isn't half eaten by the nonsense of real life. Reading fanfictions has become a wonderful pasttime.

3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) : I dislike rude behavior of any sort.

4. What got you interested in Smallville? The tv spot advertising the pilot episode with a gorgeous, half naked man moaning "Help me." That kinda started a whirlwind of dirty thoughts.

5. What are your favorite SV episodes? Pilot, Rosetta, Exile, Phoenix, Memoria, Transference, Commencement, Hidden, Splinter, Reckoning (and I'll just go ahead and admit it...I love Spell for the naughty visuals).

6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often? (WARNING: This post will be lacking linkage!) Kal's Girl/Eletryxx's "Beauty", Shaman's "Devil's Due" and "Into the Green", Rhiannonhero's "Seven Hurricane", Paperbkryter's "Golgatha" (Are you noticing a theme yet?) :)

7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.) My family loves animals. We have an Australian Terrier, 2 years old, named Charlie and also 2 cats, Kisses (very beautiful) and Tig (hugely fat). We live behind a natural park and take daily walks there to see the wildlife...deer, snapping turtles, foxes, blue herrins, various snakes, rabbits, fish galore, hawks, etc.

8. Thoughts of my own: I am not very active on LJ. I wish I had the time to write more and post more so that I could get to know everyone better. But, I just want tell all of you how much I appreciate you. LJ has in many ways been my mental savior. I love my family and I love my children, but I crave something of my own as well, and my friends on LJ have provided me with that mental respite necessary to keep me feeling happy and fulfilled. So kisses to you all! :)

I have been reading every post here too. I relegated myself to lurking until I came to your post. I realized that if you have the time to jot down a few thoughts, then so can I. :) (Plus it feels secure being on the same page as you!) Anyway Carol, you know how I feel about you and I completely agree with your post. xx

[identity profile] carolandtom.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:05 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, Chelly!

And if there's someone who has a lot to say, that would be you. Thanks for coming forward!

xx

I'm so glad you've posted this!

Many more people should know how amazing you are. :)

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it really is good to meet new people in the fandom! And I envy you the fact that you will be able to watch Buffy for the first time one day. It's something to treasure, trust me! No rush--it will be there when you are ready. *g*

Meanwhile, welcome to the SV playground...

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
it was your post that encouraged me to delurk
Oh, wow! I feel really chuffed about that! *g* Thank you!

Yes, no more rants about Jonathan... I've had many! All his heavy-handed paternalism ... literally (I started to get a shudder every time he would put his hand on Clark's shoulder!).

[identity profile] arianstarr.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:37 am (UTC)(link)
I've been tempted to print it, save my eyes from staring at the computer screen for hours at a time!

The original CSI, not a fan of the other ones really.

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
Hooray for delurking! *g*

MR shines in Asylum and Shattered, and I love it every time he's thrown a new acting challenge because he always comes up with the goods!

[identity profile] theclexfactor.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
YAY! Thankyou!

Those damn ventriloquist dolls...it's all Buffy's fault (Season 1, "Puppet Show")

[identity profile] arianstarr.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yep! I'm Canadian :D

I love movies almost as much as I love books, so the plan was to have as many of my own as possible when I left. My parents still don't quite get why I'd end up buying the same movies as them. lol

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yellow is pretty much *noones* colour, except possibly mine... I have this strange ability to wear really bright colours, so egg yolk yellow is fine on me. I think it's because I have the blandest looks ever--pale skin, mousy hair, greyish green eyes... so if I wear muted colours, I look ick, but if I go bright, everyone is distracted by the bright!shiny!pretty! ;) Well, that's one theory... Possibly I just inflict my terrible taste on all my friends callously...

[identity profile] arianstarr.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
Hi!

What kind of books do you read? Favourite kind of movies?

[identity profile] arianstarr.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's almost scary just how pretty he is!

[identity profile] theclexfactor.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Hurts like a mother fucker, but I love both of them.

The first one I got when I was 16 and it is of a dolphin on my left shoulder blade. The second one I got last year and it is a cursive letter N (for my name) on the space between my shoulder and collar bone.

[identity profile] theclexfactor.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
More pimping!! I drew this one too...

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
Hello and welcome! Congrats on delurking! You have so many likes, I'm overwhelmed! ;) Well, I guess we all do, really...

You have an evil possessed dog? *raises eyebrow quizically*

[identity profile] arianstarr.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:45 am (UTC)(link)
:D DVD's saved me from having to wait hours to download the episodes, which is great. lol

[identity profile] rosengirl.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
lol Thanks !

I usually post all my fanarts in my other blog here if you're interested (I've some wallpapers and some vids) :

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, *g* It IS a great event, isn't it? I've read everyones post too, and I'm so glad it happened on a day when I was actually around (RL means I'm not around that much sometimes...), because it's lovely to read a bit more about everyone.

[identity profile] arianstarr.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I've seen 'an evening with' the whole way through in one sitting. But that's the greatness of Kevin; you can pick it up anywhere and still laugh til you cry.

I love that you renamed your 80's playlist!

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's great to see you posting here! *waves*

And look! I learnt a little more about you--I didn't know you had so many animals! I grew up with an Australian terrier--she lived until I was 22 and was my soul companion in childhood. They are a wonderful breed. And living near a nature park sounds great--I've recently reconnected with my childhood love of animals (I wanted to be a zoologist when I grew up!), and I'm making a special effort to have 'animal time' in my life.

I wish I had the time to write more and post more so that I could get to know everyone better. But, I just want tell all of you how much I appreciate you
I know how you feel! I never feel I have enough time on LJ ... and I do appreciate everyone so. The RL/LJ balance can be a tricky one, but it certainly is lovely to have this 'home away from home' here. *g*

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
*deep breath* I read mostly recent lit stuff--authors I like include Zadie Smith, Vikram Seth, Ian McEwan, Louis de Bernieres, Isabel Allende... oodles more. Then, I also read quite a lot of classics, including twentieth century stuff--Iris Murdoch and Dorothy Dunnett are two of my all-time favourite authors. I also enjoy reading non-fic (politics, history), and some historical fiction and fantasy. I have a books filter on LJ where I post about the books I read. Anyone's welcome, so let me know if you'd like to be on it! (But totally fine if you don't!!)

Movies... again, I watch a fair range. I watch a lot of foreign language or indie movies as well as mainstream stuff. I enjoy action movies, particularly martial arts ones (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was ultimate!), I don't usually like romantic comedies but I like wellmade comedies, and some favourite of movies include--*scans dvd collection* Amelie, Grosse Pointe Blank, Empire Records, LoTR (of course!), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind... erm... I better stop going on and on!

You?

Oh and I forgot to mention, my bengal (who's name is Shuster) is a bit intense, but sweet as can be. He loves to climb and is scary smart, which only means he gets into everything and has me scratching my head wondering how he does all the things he manages to do, lol. My other cat, Clive, is a breeder accident, half marble bengal and half russian blue. Here's a picture of the two of them a few weeks after Shuster's arrival http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y73/MELANIEMM/SHUSTER/restingkitties.jpg
