Come to the SV social

"I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party. The party with the...with the pants. The party with pants."
"Brick, are you saying there's a party in your pants and I'm invited?" (Anchorman)

No, actually the party is in the comments of this entry! Come and join the fun and meet new people in SV fandom. I would especially like to encourage you quiet folks lurking in the back--even those of you without livejournals of your own--to drop by and introduce yourselves. We're all a pretty friendly bunch here, and we like to make new friends. Fandom is more fun when you get involved and meet people, so why don't you stop by and say hi?

Here's a little mini-questionnaire, almost completely stolen from [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's glee week social, in case you need a conversation starter, but feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you are interested in answering:

1. Tell us something about yourself:
2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):
3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) :
4. What got you interested in Smallville?
5. What are your favorite SV episodes?
6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often?
7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.)

Happy delurking day! Come join the party!

Sometime, you'll have to point me to good Legolas/Gimli fics. I've loved Tolkien since, um, 1980 (I got the whole set when I turned 12), and I loved the movies, but I never really read a lot in that fandom. But I shipped Legolas and Gimli before I even knew what slash was.

Oh, and the whacked out movies I've watched just because Ewan was in them!!!

PS. Arjuna rocks my world! *g*

Oh, I will... clearly this is something I need to know about! thanks for the tip-off.

Hey there, GiventoFly! *waves and friends you back* Sadly enough, I hardly ever update. Sorry 'bout that. But now you've got someplace to comment if you have suggestions or questions about Castville (or you can email me, if you like!). Am looking forward to corresponding with you.

I always feel a little bad whenever I post CV, because the posts run so long and it feels a little like I'm being self-serving and using the boards as my personal fanfiction.net account. Because CV is really just my own vision of the show and so there's that element of wankery to it. So I'm always pleasantly surprised when people comment and say they like it.

I do have the feeling that a lot more people read and enjoy it than the feedback on the boards would indicate. And I totally understand. I'm not fishing for compliments and I don't want the thread completely cluttered up with CV comments. That's not what it was created for. But I've recently got the feeling that CV is well-liked and that tickles me pink.

So, yeah, this was a long comment back to you to basically say, "Thank you so much for the heartfelt compliment. I really do appreciate it." :)

And there's talk of season 5 DVD cover possibly featuring Clark and Lex alone *bounces*

After just Clark for two seasons, Clark/Lex/Lana for season 3, and Clark/Lois for season 4, this is fantastic news :D

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-25 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's what you call 'take out'. Actually I have an awesome Indian place that *delivers*. They do these sets where you get rice, naan and curries for two for approx $20, which is really cheap! Hence, [livejournal.com profile] supacat and I are thinking up more and more excuses to stay in and have dvd-curry nights!

But yes, this is the first Nepalese place that I know of that does takeaway. Hooray! And their food is really fresh and lovely.

i've written to you from a hotmail account, at least once, to say i like your videos, particularly Sex and Candy. adina! :)

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-05-25 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I have to say, your novel sounds fascinating. And I meant to comment on your post the other day about trying to balance "real writing" with fandom, but this week my comment volume is about 10 times its normal size, so I keep letting other things slip by. But there are actually a number of pro writers who also write fanfic. (It's true that they tend mostly to be in sci-fi/fantasy/horror genres, rather than the literary side, but still, I hope you will consider it!)

Giggling at the hot pink public hair. Doesn't dye down there sting?

I want to be an astronaut, a firefighter, a ninja, member of the mafia (any mafia), photographer, archeologist, president of the world, astrologist, physic, reporter, architect, writer, evil scientist, detective, spy, head of a new religion, etc.

I think that I have a crush on you now.

[identity profile] norwich36.livejournal.com 2006-05-25 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I love meeting new converts addicts fans of Smallville! Thank goodness for DVDs!

I'm throwing productivity out the window today! *lobs*
It's 9:30 here, and I've going to see how long I can keep commenting without getting through my inbox... if it slows down, I will do some actual work. That's fair, right? ;)

Becky met Clark? How did I not know this?
Er... well it's possible that that only occurred in stick figure form, but personally I'm still jealous! ;)

Dale Peck rings distant bells with me! That sounds like a brush with fame... my Hugh Laurie connection was a real obscure one until recently. My uncle is an actor, so I've met a few of the old UK comedy scene people--Ronnie Barker used to scoff my gran's baking. Other than that, I'm a deadloss when it comes to fame. Some people are fame magnets! Me no. The best I can rustle is that my mum's met Robbie Williams (I do like that story actually...) and my cousin has discovered something awesome about a star but I can never remember what (she's an astronomer and worked for NASA for a while).

1. Tell us something about yourself: I'm Ash, I'm a gemini and I like to make people smile and laugh. It's almost a mission!

2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff): Michael Rosenbaum, Smallville, Lex Luhor, Clex, happy endings. And Michael Rosenbaum.

3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) : Not much into incest, rape, stuff like that.

4. What got you interested in Smallville? Michael did. It's his fault. :)

5. What are your favorite SV episodes? Pilot, Shattered, Onyx, Lexmas.

6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often? I have too many in my SV file, but not here, so I can't remember.

7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.) Favorite food is meat, favorite color is blue...I won't wear belts. I have a cat named Miss Kitty and have waaay too many shoes, as my husband would say, lol! I love Monaco but would not leave the US if I were a billionaire...recently, Michael got a manip of Han Solo I made of him and he loved it; said he's going to hang it up in his office (didn't say it to me, nor to my friend who handed it to him, to someone else) and I'm still SO happy that I put a smile on his face in a day that he was feeling so bad.
I am very good at keeping secrets and my husband totally supports my fannish habit!
I keep pictures of him around so I can "see" him. In my car, on my fridge, in my planner. Desktop, of course, and the such. I still act like I did when I was 15.
But I'm 35.
Those who do not like it, need not apply. ;D
I have a 5y-o son and we like to dance at stores and sing, and just be happy...I think that life is to be enjoyed and that guilt is a waste of time.
Oh! I also like Michael Rosenbaum!
:D

I often find that watching TV interferes with my fandom time. This is a conundrum, because watching TV is often necessary to understand half of what my flist is talking about.

On a completely different topic: MMMmmm, Cheetos.

Hey there! Anyone who lives to give the religious right nightmares is ok by me!

And I also love the evil Lana. (Points to icon)

Cool icon! I like it. *g*

Yay new friend! *friends back*
Savage Garden were like my first obsession. And Jen Garner is my current girlcrush! You should see the icons I've collected of her!

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-25 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello!! Good to see you here, and get to know you a little better. *g*

Never much liked Jonathan, Pete, Whitney etc and I have to admit there are times I've wanted to slap both Lana and Chloe
Heh. That could be me talking! ;) I'm a secret Pete-hater. I hate both the actor and what the writers did to his character (ie completely fail to deliver on him). It's really good he's not on the show anymore, because now I seem like this really easy-going person who likes ALL the characters! Ha!

Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Have you ever read (or written) Highlander fic? I ask because the last time I was actually fannishly active (rather than just lurker) was in the late 90s, and I spent a whole month one summer researching ancient Sumerian religion because I had a hankering to write a Methos fic with lots of flashbacks to that period. It never actually happened (the story, I mean), but I now always associate Sumeria with Highlander.

Oh, the random facts you pick up from fandom! Just about everything I know about the Arctic and the Inuit I picked up from Due South, for example.

I never wear jewelry unless I am specifically "dressing up," but I always admire people who do.

Ya know? You're gonna smack me, but I didn't get the Tommy attraction till the end of S2, beg of S3.

I think he's gorgeous today, he won me over, but I never used to SEE it before, and I've been watching since Pilot, lol!!

Someday when you visit me (hinthint), I'll curl my hair. I did it this weekend! Hot curlers and lots of hairspray. Maybe next time I should take a picture :P

Lex got me aaaallll the way in Pilot.
But everyone knows that, lol!!

You have very good taste in fandoms, I have to say! The only one of yours I've never seen in Roswell.
