norwich36: (Jump in join the party)

Come to the SV social

"I would like to extend to you an invitation to the pants party. The party with the...with the pants. The party with pants."
"Brick, are you saying there's a party in your pants and I'm invited?" (Anchorman)

No, actually the party is in the comments of this entry! Come and join the fun and meet new people in SV fandom. I would especially like to encourage you quiet folks lurking in the back--even those of you without livejournals of your own--to drop by and introduce yourselves. We're all a pretty friendly bunch here, and we like to make new friends. Fandom is more fun when you get involved and meet people, so why don't you stop by and say hi?

Here's a little mini-questionnaire, almost completely stolen from [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's glee week social, in case you need a conversation starter, but feel free to answer as many or as few questions as you are interested in answering:

1. Tell us something about yourself:
2. Likes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff):
3. Dislikes (characters, ships, genres, TV shows, actors, real life stuff) :
4. What got you interested in Smallville?
5. What are your favorite SV episodes?
6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often?
7. Random facts (favorite food, color you wouldn't be caught dead wearing, pets' names, number of pairs of shoes you own, where you would live if you were a billionaire, etc.)

Happy delurking day! Come join the party!

Less of a flaw and more of a trait... I like it! *runs away happy*

[identity profile] blisstasteful.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Thankyou!, tis good to meet you too!

Hi! *waves*
and thankyou!

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yay Canada!

Hee. And yes, Smallville with more logic would be good. So that things were explained and plots were thoroughly thought out and such.

I've heard about the fun Highlander cons from [livejournal.com profile] beeej! Highlander was heaps of fun, but I was never fannish until SV, so I missed that era.

Yes, I'm the one and only Lana fan in the LJ community
No! No, you're not! I swear there is someone else on my f'list who fangirls her... and I am proud to say that I have really *liked* Lana at times during Season 5, and I certainly find her a very interesting character now (though I had to get over my old prejudice first!). Yay for 'saying it loud and proud'!

I presume you've read [livejournal.com profile] mskatej's Clexana piece: The Trouble With Three (http://mskatej.livejournal.com/86417.html#cutid1). Oh! I see you mention her later... QED. *slinks off*

Oh, and Neil Gaiman is wonderful. I'm not very fannish about him, but I've always dabbled in his writing/work, and I've seen him on writers' panels. Good to meet you!

You're so welcome, swetie. I'll help in any way I can.

*hugs*

Aww, sweetie, thank you. I really enjoy doing it, it's a way I can try and give back to all of the neat people I've met here. And, you are most definitely one of them. :)

I'm really glad to have the chance to get to know you better, I'm hoping that at some point things settle down for me to be more active again. I can sure keep hoping for it to any way.

*hugs*

I feel the same way, stuff like this really helps us, doesn't it?

And, yep, I've always been a book worm and proud of it. It was one of the things I really enjoyed teaching my niece, Amber, about. :)

We've just added the online world and its wealth of stories and content to the mix. :)

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! Oh Kate. Even your profile thingie here amuses me. You have such a distinctive, wonderful personality. I've yet to meet a single person who doesn't love you! *smooches*

[identity profile] althea-astrea.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
exactly!

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it's very interesting to read everyone's responses and boggle at how alike and yet how amazingly different we all are!

I think it would be wonderful to share books with a child. I remember the magic they held for me and I treasure my childhood library. I love reading aloud too, and read HP to my very tolearnt boy, though there's not much else he'll let me read to him...

[identity profile] lucidity-0.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
I love them in any and all combinations - Clex, Clana, Lexana... and (be still my heart)the very scarce, Clexana.

I gotta say, I am not a fan of Clana or Lexana but I'll take Clexana any day!

It's Tom/Clark who rules my fannish world though.. Good freakin' GOD, I will never get over the charisma and raw sexiness of that man.

I completely agree! Though I lack anything else to add. lol.

Oh, and the guy they cast in the new Superman Returns movie? Ugh. Major disappointment.

Tell me about it! I have been moping about him since they released his name/picture last year! lol.

Christopher Reeve blew me away when I first saw STM in the theater..

Same here! Though I only have my mother's stories to go by for a lot of those 'memories'. But, nevertheless, I have been pretty fascinated/obsessed with Superman since I saw Christopher Reeve on screen when I was 4! :)

You'll bite? How hard? Inquiring minds want to know!

[identity profile] serenography.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Great to meet you too. I've had the honor of reading several of your metas regarding SV episodes and while I don't always agree, I am *always* impressed with your analysis and articulate manner. I was only half-serious about being the "only Lana fan in LJ".. there actually are whole pods of them(us) hiding in the corners, just not so much in any Clex-oriented communities.

I've fantasized about organizing a SV con one day. Who knows? Perhaps one day I'll be able to.

[identity profile] tehjules.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
1. Tell us something about yourself: I'm 20, live in the south and have one cat. Uh... Shopping is of the good.
2. Likes: TOMMY. Ahem. And what's Tom without Mike? And RPS. And teh slash. And Ben Browder. And pretty much anyone named Jack. And In & Out burger. Perhaps a little bondage. And apparently? Starting sentences with 'and.'
3. Dislikes : Pickles on my In & Out burger. Bad porn. People who can't take snark.
4. What got you interested in Smallville? It was a group effort. Thankfully, I can shift the blame to mainly [livejournal.com profile] nehellania for making me stare at pretty pictures of TW and MR as I made banners. That hooked me. Then I actually watched an episode.
5. What are your favorite SV episodes? Unsafe, Memoria, Exile, Lineage
6. What SV fanfic do you reread most often? Love For Sale by [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore. Along with pretty much anything else [livejournal.com profile] kristiinthedark pushes my way. *g*
7. Random facts: Creepy people hit on me. (ie: Wayne Newton ish people) Hudson Leick and I have hammed it up for the camera together. Even though my nickname is 'Jules' I rarely go by Julia in every day life.

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
I have signed up for a kickboxing class. Mostly because I think I need some sort of self-defense training. But you were definitely an inspiration in that department K! *loves you*

[identity profile] serenography.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Tell me about it! I have been moping about him since they released his name/picture last year! lol.
Well, in retrospect, it's a good thing they didn't use Tom or we wouldn't have had S5 or S6. But still.. it's hard to go from someone who embodies Superman so perfectly, to someone so bleh, and with creepy-looking blue contacts to boot. Still the movie will have great special f/x, I'm sure (see? I'm trying to be positive) *forced smile*

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, thank you very much! That's lovely feedback. And never fear--I don't at all mind people disagreeing with me, and quite frequently change my own mind after discussing things with others. It's always good to hear from people with a different take on things.

I was only half-serious about being the "only Lana fan in LJ"
Oh good! Because I know it *can* be difficult. The Lana-bashing is pretty rife in Clexy circles... but then the Lois-bashing is rife on TWoP, for example. It just depends who you hang with!

I hope one day you get to organise that con! *g*

[identity profile] tehjules.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
You and your Locko.

Yes, we share a brain. It's uncanny and frankly, really frelling awesome most of the time. *loves you*

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
WAYNE NEWTONISH PEOPLE! God that's the best story. Even if I do still want to smack him. Perverted bastard.

..a little bondage? Who are you trying to kid?

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, cool! *dances* That should be fun, Jen! And I do think everyone should have some sort of self defense training. As long as the school and teachers are good, it's a real confidence-boosting experience, especially for women. Doesn't mean you want to kick the shit out of someone, but it can teach you a lot about projecting personal confidence and handling dangerous situations generally. Good luck with it!

[identity profile] nehellania.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hey it's not just my Locko! Erin supports their love too! It's canon dammit!

It's good sharing a brain though. Balance and all that. *nods*

[identity profile] bop-radar.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Creepy people hit on me.
Oh, poor Jules! I have a few friends who share that trait with you. Some people are magnets to the creepies...
