[livejournal.com profile] rsadelle and I had a marvellous time this afternoon watching "The Muppets." Without being spoilery, I would say that if you ever liked the Muppets at all, you will enjoy this movie. I loved it, personally. Only slight spoilers behind the cut, though the comments will probably be more spoilery )

I've wanted to see "Legion" since I first saw the trailer back in August, so I wasn't going to let a little thing like a complete lack of any reviews (usually a VERY bad sign) stop me from seeing it Friday, but I did lower my expectations a bit. And overall, it didn't suck. I wouldn't say it was a great film, but the current metacritic score is somewhere in the 30s, whereas I would put in maybe in the high 50s myself. Extremely formulaic, yes, but good performances and entertaining enough, and interesting angelology. I highly expect other SPN fans to appreciate a lot of the plot parallels and the central role of Adrianne Palicki. In fact, I am very much hoping to see a lot of SPN/Legion fusion fic based on the film.

Spoilers ahoy. Seriously, this review spoils every aspect of the plot, so don't click if you don't want to be spoiled )

Ok, I still have not watched Pandora yet. I have a horrible, horrible fish-out-of-water squick, so I bailed five minutes into it. Eventually I know I will woman up and just made myself push through my discomfort (especially because people I trust really liked the ep), but it may not be until right before the new eps start. So much for my unbroken streak of SV reviews since season 5.

I actually haven't really been watching much live TV, other than about a billion Thanksgiving-themed shows on the Food Network, but I have to make two comments on tonight's "The Good Wife," which totally rocked: Read more... )

In un-live television--or I supposed you could call it undead television, ha ha ha, I have finally watched the bazillion episodes of Vampire Diaries I'd been taping but sure I would never watch. Curses on you, friendslist! I was all set to abandon this show, but you all insisted it actually becomes good, and you just had to be right, didn't you. In fact, it was good enough that I stayed up way past my bedtime catching up--good enough that I may just give up watching FlashForward altogether and watch VD live, because frankly I'm finding VD a hell of a lot more compelling than FF.

And in other media adventures, I saw not one but two very hilarious comedies this weekend. (Not billed by their creators as comedies, but I call them as I see them).

First was 2012 )

Then there was that sparkly vampire movie. Serious lovers of Twilight should probably skip my comments )
