For anyone interested in that guess-who-my-favorite-characters-are meme I posted yesterday, almost all my favorites were correctly guessed. The only unguessed ones were John Winchester (for Supernatural), Lassiter from Psych, and Cristina and Addison from Grey's Anatomy.

Since a couple people asked, here is the best part of The Daily Show last night (via Comedy Central's webpage), as well as a link to the whole episode (via Hulu).

And if anyone else was as infuriated by Sarah Palin's convention speech as I was, here's a good critique of her candidacy by Gloria Steinem. A few good quotes from Steinem, in case that link goes dead )

I had to make myself stop reading commentary on her speech because steam was coming out of my ears. Fortunately, I found a good piece of fannish stress relief: a ten-minute vid of Jensen Ackles kissing people .

Edited to Add: Here's an AWESOME response to Palin's slam on community organizers: http://nielsenhayden.com/makinglight/archives/010538.html
Favorite quotes from this:

"[M]y dad is a community organizer, so lemme spell this out: the difference between a community organizer and a politician is that a community organizer can’t tell anyone what to do. They have to listen. So they can’t order books banned from a library to indulge their own religious sensibilities. They can’t fire someone because they didn’t follow orders to fire an estranged family member. They can’t ram through a $15 million dollar sports complex that leaves their local town groaning underneath the debt. Unlike politicians, they don’t have any power other than the power of people who want to see something changed."

"Mrs. Palin needs to be reminded that Jesus Christ was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor."
